Jury Trial Tour

  • offered weekday mornings when court is in session
  • limited to persons age 10 (fifth grade) and older
  • no more than 35 persons to a group, including teachers and chaperones
  • includes an overview of the judicial system, a visit to a courtroom to view a trial in progress, and a follow-up discussion
  • tour attendees observe cases involving civil disputes such as personal injury claims, contract matters, and medical malpractice suits

Domestic Relations Division Tour

  • offered weekday mornings when court is in session
  • limited to persons age 16 (tenth grade) and older
  • no more than 25 persons to a group, including teachers and chaperones
  • includes an overview of the judicial system, visits to both trial and hearing courtrooms where divorce matters are heard, and a follow-up discussion
  • tour attendees observe prove ups, in which parties agree on the terms of the divorce; divorce trials, where parties do not agree on some or all terms of the divorce; and post decree matters, where one party wants a change in the terms of the divorce, which can include but is not limited to child custody, child support, or college tuition

Because dates fill up quickly, schools and organizations are encouraged to book tours several weeks or months in advance of their preferred dates to ensure availability.

  • one hour in length
  • limited to persons age 10 (fifth grade) and older

  • tour attendees observe a trial in progress and view the lock-up provided no prisoners are present

Fourth Municipal District

  • offered Tuesday through Thursday in the morning only
  • limited to persons age 10 and older
  • no more than 25 persons to a group
  • for student groups, one (1) chaperone is required for every 12 students
  • observation of civil proceedings is suggested for grammar and high school students while observation of criminal proceedings is suggested for college students and adults
  • all groups meet with a judge
